What is spiderfoot?

Today I will talk about such tools which is very easy and it can be easily installed on any platform, this tool is spiderfoot, it is a free and open source tools which work for  reconnaissance. It automatically searches the footprint of any target's information from 100 public data sources such as IP address, domain name system, mobile number and email, etc. and also shows it a graph if you want to extract information about any target.  You have to select the modules related to it, then spiderfoot will extract that information and show it.

 Features of spiderfoot

 1- It is an open source and free software which is available for any platform like Linux or Windows

 2- Once you have configured your system, then no other installation like python dependencies etc. will be required.


 3- If you want to get any information, then you can scan the flower, if you do not want to scan the flower, then you can scan it by selecting different modules.


 4- If you have many entities then you can do many targets like phone no, dns, e-mail, ip address etc. together


 5- If your scan has been completed or you have set the schedule, then you will also receive an email notification


 6- If you have to scan a lot of targets then you can import them, for that you have to use CSV file


 7- This tool shows the relationship of the scan result with great depth

 How to use spiderfoot?

 1- First you go to your terminal and type spiderfoot --help this will show you all the ways to use it, you can see below


 2- Then you type spiderfoot -l ip adress :port in terminal as I typed


 spiderfoot -l 192.168.43.253:5555 then press enter key and after sometime you will get a link ready

 3- Copy the link and paste it in your browser, some kind of GUI interface will open.



4- Now you can do the type of scanning you want by clicking on new Scan and the scan will start

It has main 3 types of menu

 1 new scan

 2 scans

 3 setting


 New scan - To do any scan, you have to go to this menu and select your module in it and start the scan by setting the scan name and target.

Scan- Inside this menu, the status of all the scans done by us remains, in this some details are shown as follows.

 (a) name - in this the name of the scan appears

 (b) target - In this scan target like any email or mobile etc. is shown.

 (c) started-  When did the scan start?

 (d) finished-  When did the scan end in this

 (e) Status- Shows the result of the scan


3 -In this, the option of 'Settings' comes which you can see below, if any settings or any key has to do something then you will have to go to this option.
